The Thrill of the Narrow

I was just chatting with a student who is talented, dynamic, and committed. When I asked her about her long-term dream (if money was no object), she didn’t think for more than a nanosecond. She is enamored by data and turning complex sets of information into graphs. That’s her dream. Fortunately, she has the opportunity to do this at work, but she also does it on weekends as a stimulating recreational activity.

I must admit that her answer surprised me a bit – not because it wasn’t a great answer, it was. It was just very different than the broad, conceptual visions I usually hear.

This student’s clarity and thrill of the narrow will make her a huge player in her field and an inspiration to me – perhaps to you, too.

Have a great day,
