I was chatting with a former classmate last week who is the throes of deciding whether to keep a job he is bored with (but pays the bills) or jump into a new career in an area of tremendous interest to him. He has been tested the waters for more than a year, but he hasn’t been able to focus much of any time to his new venture. As a result, his startup hasn’t taken off.
While I am a big believer in not making rash departures from a job, my friend has the savings, support at home, and a pretty good idea. When he is ready, focus will be crucial and he may just have to leave his job to make a go of his new venture.
I wish him (and anyone else reading this) much success when you go both feet in with your dream.
