I was chatting with someone recently who are a bit frustrated with his career. It’s likely not what you think. His challenge is that he has too many options. Now this might seem like a wonderful “problem” to have, but it’s distracting him to the point where he had become immobilized.
During our conversation, he confessed that he does have a clear preference but is concerned that it will never happen. To me, it was a big deal that he even shared this. Yet once he did, we were able to brainstorm tiny next steps where he could experiment with his choice and withdraw if moving ahead seemed like a bad idea.
Most of the time, it’s easy to add choices (or potential problems) into the mix and never make a decision. You can say yes to small things and choose bigger things as you are ready.
Have a great day,
