The Happiness Mirror

I was chatting with a few people recently and one of my friends was really distraught about the way some people in her new neighborhood treated her. She felt that they were invariably  trying to make her look stupid. All it did was make her angry and she wanted to fight back and make them look ridiculous.

This battle clearly wasn’t working for her. She just grew resentful.

Since things weren’t changing, she decided to look at her own behavior, attitude, and heart. She was able to see how she was actually part of the problem. While she didn’t change all at once (not possible in my book), she was able to take small steps and experience a difference in how others related to her.

Good job, friend. It takes courage to really look in the mirror. Yet the payoff is enormous.

Have a great day,
