I was on the bus this morning and google searching for a speech I’m working on. In my “travels”, I read the parable about a young boy and his grandfather. The boy was facing a challenge at school and didn’t ever want to return.
Without saying a word, the grandfather took out three pots, filled them with water, and tosses raw carrots into one, eggs into another, and coffee beans in the third. He then boiled each for 20 minutes. In the end, the carrots were mushy, the eggs were hard, and the water became coffee.
So, what’s the lesson? When faced with a challenge, we can lose our structure and foundation (like the carrot), have a hardened heart (like the eggs), or transform the adversity into something beneficial (tasty coffee).
The choice is ours.
Enjoy your weekend,
