I was chatting with someone recently who had just given a TED talk and shares how when she was preparing, she became super scared. My friend realized that if she continued down that path, she would freeze and that would be horrible. She remembered (from a psychology class) that in the brain, fear and excitement emerge from the same chemicals. So each time she felt scared, she paused and shifted to excitement. While it didn’t work every time, it helped her enough so she could give an informative (and exciting) TED talk.
