The Arrogance of Holding Back

Recently, I was with a group of friends and we were talking about goals important to each of us.  One person, Jake, missed a target and he was pretty nonchalant about it. The response of another person, Julia, at first really surprised us all, “You are incredibly arrogant,” she said.

How is it arrogant to miss a goal? Julia’s point is that holding back is a form of arrogance because if you don’t give it your all – there is an underlying belief of having limited capacity – and who is to say how far you can go? The last person should be you!

Something to think about.

Have a great day,
