The Power of Being Interested

The next time you find yourself losing interest in a conversation, event, or meeting, pause. Then pretend you are a reporter interviewing the person who is speaking. Ask good questions (when appropriate) and really listen up. Catch each word the person says. You never know which one will spark your “readers’” interest. In the process, you could learn a lot and the person you are paying attention to will feel terrific. So you will you “interview” today?

When you are interested, your relationships will flourish in ways that will yield great benefit for you and the other person!

Anita

Unfearing

Judy had a high paying job in a field she liked but didn’t love. She decided to quit her job at the beginning of the year, but by September she was still employed. During her review in November her boss congratulated her on her creativity, innovation, and excellence. “You used to be so tentative,” he said.  “Now you go after what you believe and it works.”

Judy wasn’t afraid to lose her job. While she didn’t take stupid risks, Judy did more things that she believed in without worrying about what others would think.

So what smart step could you take today if you were like Judy?

No one tactic will make your break your life and happiness, it’s just there to guide you down the highway. So if you find yourself obsessing today, lighten up and see what other treasures are on the road.

Timing Is (Almost) Everything

Do you ever wait for the right time to start a project? When you start and complete something is important, it’s just not everything.

Starting and continuing is essential. Without action, even the best of intentions will not yield the results that you long for. So combine the best of both – timing and action.

Use your intuition and wisdom to decide when to start. Then take your commitment, enthusiasm, and desire and take action a little each day.

Have a great day,

The Purpose of Your Life

What if the purpose of your life is to discover the purpose of your life?

You have a purpose that no one other than you can fulfill. Your unique set of skills, talents, abilities, passions, interests, and experiences make you perfectly equipped to do it.

So pause for 30 seconds and ask yourself the following: what is my purpose or my mission in life? If nothing comes up, don’t worry. Keep listening with a gentle heart. Notice what you “hear” today?

Anita

Winner Takes . . .

Some people believe that victory is a “winner take all” proposition. Yet that often isn’t the best success strategy. Consider a different approach.

Ask for what you want 100 percent of the time, then negotiate the difference until you create a win-win outcome. How will you be open to this today?

Professionally Private

In the workplace, some people keep everything personal about them private. Yet others share every intimate detail of their personal lives. While what is appropriate varies widely from one organization to another, ultimately you will need to make that call. Choose a level of familiarity that feels fitting for your personality and the environment in which you work. So what can you do to reach the right balance for you today?

A 90% Success Rate

How would you rate a person who scores 90%? If you’re like most people, who would give that a person an “A” or “A-“. A 90% success rate also means that 10% of the strategies and actions didn’t work.

Yet many individuals won’t allow themselves a 10% mistake rate. They want 100% success 100% of the time, which often results in fear of failure and inaction. So what if you allowed yourself a 10% mistake rate? What would you be willing to do that you weren’t willing to do in the past? Act today and you will be moving toward the future you desire.

Have a great day,
Anita
