Get Younger

It has been said, “You can’t help getting older, but you don’t have to get old.”

So what about you? How are you growing younger?

Here are some thoughts from a 70 something: “Get moving.  Self-worth is very connected with your physical condition.  Take a walk. Ride a bike. Go dancing. Play football. Do a “Sit & Be Fit” class. You choose.” It works for her. No matter what your age, it just might just work for you, too.

Enjoy your life,

How Curiosity Leads to Success

Early in my career, one of my mentors told me to always have the mind of a beginning. When I didn’t quite understand when he meant at first, eventually I got it. That is when I began to put curiosity at the front of mind and ask questions before I came to an instant conclusion.

So lead with curiosity and you will see opportunities you might have shut down before they had a chance!

Uncurious as a Success Derailer

I know that “uncurious” is an odd word. I didn’t even know that it was a real word until recently.

That said, it is really a mega derailer. Think about it this way, a lack of curiosity is actually arrogance. Clearly if you know it all, there is little you can learn from others – which could result in your missing something important and losing a both opportunities and allies.

So I suggest finding a low risk area where you could experiment with curiosity. You might even have fun in the process!

Warmly,

Anita

Could Curiosity Help You Get Unstuck

Have you ever found yourself facing the same challenge again and again? It can get a bit tricky when the people, circumstances, and geographies are different, but at the core, the problem is the SAME.

So what is a person to do?

A while back, I found myself in a situation where I thought. “What this again?!?” It wasn’t anything monumental, but it didn’t make me feel good about myself and I wondered if I could ever change things once and for all.

So, I paused, got quiet, and used my innate sense of questioning. When I started to look at the situation with less judgement of myself and more of the curiosity of an biased beginner, things changed in positive ways that I couldn’t have predicted.

Something to noodle on.

Have a great day,

Success By Following Your Curiosity

Some people believe that to really succeed you need to know your passion and follow it.

What if you don’t have a particular passion at a specific time?

Well, I would say that many people fall into that category (myself included at times).

So what is a person to do? Consider following your curiosity. Find something about which you are curious and then learn more about it. Who knows what might follow from that: a new hobby? new career? new friends? Opportunities abound.

Have fun with it,
Anita

Great Stuff is Around the Corner

I met an extraordinary woman this morning. We had a wonderful conversation. Toward the end of the conversation, we both realized that curiosity drives us both to look for the great stuff that is just around the corner and be a resource to help the great stuff happen.

While being prudent, let curiosity drive your thoughts, words, and actions this week.

Warmly,
Anita

Turn Doubt to Your Advantage

I was chatting with someone recently who was consumed by doubt. As I am not unfamiliar with this, I wanted to see what I could do to help him. The more we talked, the more he realized that he could replace doubt (based on lack of knowledge and experience) with curiosity.

As he became to sincerely ask question and REALLY listen, he became aware of the things he actually did know and understand – and his doubt diminished while his confidence grew.

In the end his doubt helped him increase his humility, openness, and ability to step back and be a “beginner” again.

Have a great day,
Anita

Be Three

The important thing is to keep questioning.  Curiosity has its own reason for existing. Albert Einstein

Have you been around a three year old lately? Or do recall what you were like at three? If you were anything like my niece, Stephanie, your favorite word was probably “Why.” Why this and why that? Now I must admit that a never-ending string of “whys” can be a smidge irritating, it’s a good practice for human beings of any age. It can open up your mind, heart, and spirit. So give it a shot. For today, pretend you are three. Ask at least 20 questions starting with the word “Why”. And by the way, please listen to the answers with you whole being.

Have a wonderful day,
